The Visits

I started this poem several years ago.  Had it as a draft on a web site I am a member of.  I only found it by accident.

Mom

She came by for a visit last night
she didn't stay long or ask for a bite
she sat in a chair and smiled at me
I so wanted to sit at her knee.
Place my head in her lap
And try not to cry like a baby.

I miss her so much, it's been a long time
she no longer walks with us, only in my mind.
