A Day at the farm.

It was a great day today.  Eric, Maddy, Coryn and Kyra came up for the day.  We had a cook out and the kids went for rides on the husky and played in the pond.  Maddy, Kyra and Coryn all got in a kayak for the very first time.  No one tipped over and they were all very confident in the kayak.  Coryn loved the paddle boat and insisted that mommy and daddy both get on with her. I took all the kids on a ride on the husky and then turned them loose.  They had a blast and covered the property exploring the only cravat we have is that they don't drive on the aunt and uncle's property unless they are being beckoned by one of them.  I also told them they could drive anywhere on the property that the husky wousld go.  Coryn wanted to drive but she is just way to short she couldn't even reach the gas pedal. Coryn was fearless in the water.  She did even mind walking in the muck, but at least no one ended up with a leech on them.   With her water wings she was out in the middle of
The Lupton Festival One summer when the Festival in Lupton was happening Frank and George went for a little fun.  The festival had a lot of games to play to test your skills.  One of them was a pitching game/  You pitched a ball at a row of monkeys to knock them down.  When you knocked down three you won a prize.  Well Frank decided to try his hand at pitching, he knew he was a good pitcher and was sure he could knock down the required monkeys to win his prize.  So he paid his money and stepped up to throw his pitch.  Woosh and the monkey went over, and stood back up!  How could that be? He knew he hit it square and he saw it go over and yet it was standing up.  He tried again.  Wound up for his pitch and woosh went the ball, down went the monkey and then right back up again. Now he knew it wasn’t his pitching.  He knew he hit that monkey square and it certainly should not be standing up.  So one more time.  He stepped back, woun

Copper Bottom Pans

Copper Bottom Pans When we were growing up my mother had a set of copper bottom pans.  They were the most popular set of pans on the market at the time.  I remember that we had to shine the bottom on those pans every time we did the dishes.  There was a special cleanser we used to clean them and shine them up.  My father had hung a bracket on the wall where we hung the pans every night after we finished doing the dishes.  The gleaming bottoms winked as the lights shone on them. One afternoon my mother invited my great aunt and uncle over for dinner.  After dinner Sherry and Mike did the dishes.  All the pans were hung on the wall with the bottoms gleaming out when all of a sudden there was an awful racket.  My mother and father rushed to see what had happened.  The pans had all fallen onto the floor, the racket was hanging by one end.  No one was near when the pans fell as Sherry and Mike had already left the kitchen.  My great uncle laughed and said,  “There is never a dull moment a

Family

It has been a long time since I have posted on here and I have really been considering it for some time.  So know is as good a time as any other.  Especially as I am trying to not use a lot of power, keeping as much as I can to a minimum to help keep the kilowatts down.  All because the electric power is jacked up 50% from 2 pm to 7 pm June, July, August and September.  I am more interested in having my AC run to keep the house cool than watch TV, do laundry or run the dishwasher all can be done early or later.  I assume the power company is just trying to conserve so everyone can continue to have power during the hot summer months. I am here alone for a few hours so its a good time to evaluate some of the things that are going on.  Starting with getting more stuff packed and but away so the girls don't have such a mess to take care of after I am gone.  I did work on the extra bedroom last week and weeded out a lot of paperwork and some other stuff to throw out.  Some has already b
